SAFEGUARDING TRAINING & SUPPORT
Kind (difficult) conversations
Having kind (difficult, courageous) conversations with families
About this Training
In safeguarding children, we often are required to have conversations with children and adults that will feel difficult. This is a fundamental part of safeguarding children, as it is also a crucial part of building and maintaining an effective working relationship with families. Having these difficult / courageous conversations, are actually ‘kind’ conversations, as stated by Jane Wiffin, as we are providing the individuals and families with the information they need, although it may be difficult to hear. By the end of this session you will: • Will have an increased understanding of what we mean by kind conversations • Explore and reflect on why we have these conversations • Understand the relationship between kind conversations and safeguarding children • Increased confidence in carrying out kind conversations Who is it for? Practitioners or professionals that work directly with children, families and / or adults.
